Network Rail workshop

We were delighted to have Network Rail visit us this week and talk to the whole school about safety on the railway.  Years 5 and 6 were lucky enough to then take part in workshops where they used their maths skills to read timetables and work out train times as well as examine the nuts, bolts and screws which hold the tracks together along with the huge spanner used to tighten the nuts and bolts during repairs.

Did you know it takes the length of 20 football pitches for a train to emergency stop?

Did you know that a fully loaded train carriage is the weight of 80 elephants?
