Fledglings’ children have had a busy couple of weeks, settling into their learning. Daily 'Dough Disco' is great fun and is sneakily helping to strengthen little fingers ready for writing. Everyone has made a brilliant start to Little Wandle phonics, and they have learnt 8 phonemes so far! The story, 'Colour Monster', has been helping the children to recognise and name their feelings. They have been thinking about different emotions and enjoying painting faces to show this.

Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic educational trip to Dover Castle and the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) Hospital, where history truly came to life. The day began with an exploration of Dover Castle, one of England’s most iconic fortresses. The children discovered the castle’s fascinating history, learning about its vital role in defending the country through the ages. From ancient battlements to secret tunnels, every corner sparked curiosity and inspired awe. Next, the class stepped back in time at the wartime hospital, where they saw firsthand how soldiers were cared for during conflict. The children were able to experience a slice of history, gaining a real understanding of medical practices during wartime and the bravery of those involved. It was a fun, engaging, and memorable day, combining hands-on learning with a sense of adventure. 

This week we celebrated another successful Art Week at White Cliffs, inviting children to unleash their creativity and bring their imaginations to life! Each year group explored a different theme: Nursery & Reception: Magical creatures Year 1: Fantasy world building Year 2: Robots Year 3: Fantasy characters in stories Year 4: Alien worlds Year 5: Epic battles and journeys Year 6: Futuristic architecture We were thrilled to receive 75 incredible entries across all age groups. Mr Gibb had the challenging task of selecting the finalists, with the standard of work impressing everyone. The finalists’ artwork was proudly displayed at our Art Exhibition, where parents, carers, and children had the chance to vote for their favourites – either by scanning a QR code or by ticking a ballot paper. It was a wonderful celebration of creativity and imagination across our school, showcasing the incredible talent of our students. We can’t wait to see what next year’s Art Week will inspire! On Monday 8th September 2025 Mrs Farrier launched the school council elections in assembly. Over the next 2 days, the children who would like to be considered to represent their class wrote their 'manifestos' and presented these to their classmates. On Friday 12th September we hosted a White Cliffs Polling Station, and each class voted for their favourite candidate, emulating the voting system we use in our society.         Mrs Farrier carefully counted each vote and was able to announce the successful candidates during Friday’s Celebration Assembly.       Marley Kayla School Council Leader School Council Leader         River Laycee Harwin Truly Badger Class Owl Class Rabbit Class Moorhen Class       Railon George Freddie Highland Cow Class Otter Class Frog Class             These children will meet with Mrs Farrier at least one a month to help discuss and make decisions for the school.

Mrs Cox and the fantastic Gardening Club have done it again! They have won the Temple Ewell Inter-School Gardening Competition for the fourth time! A huge well done to Mrs Cox and to all the children who attended Gardening Club last academic year. Your hard work, creativity, and teamwork have really paid off – what an amazing achievement!

This morning, Mr Uden led a brilliant assembly all about our fun playtimes! He explained where the different activities will be based and reminded us how to use the equipment safely so that everyone can enjoy themselves. We are so lucky to have such a wide range of exciting play options to choose from, including: Boxing activities to build strength and coordination Bike riding to practise balance and fitness Skipping for fun and teamwork with friends Water play for creativity and discovery Sand play to spark imagination and problem-solving Construction play to design, build and explore With so many choices, playtimes are set to be more fun than ever!

Year 3 had a wonderful windy day walking Dover High Street today. They looked at all the different shops and were very excited when they found Dover Suite World from the YouTube adverts!  We were incredibly lucky to be allowed into the newly renovated Town Hall and were amazed at the stained glass windows and beautiful paintings.  We finished our trip with a seaside picnic with a treat of chips and ice lollies, before walking the pier and watching the boats. What a fantastic day! 

Thank you to all the parents who have been involved in the Year 5 and Year 2 Stem engineering project. On Wednesday a few children from each of the year groups were selected to attend a special event at Christ Church University. The children competed against 9 other schools in different engineering categories. Harwin was lucky enough to win the best deigned vehicle in Key Stage One. All the children did a wonderful job, and we are very proud of them all.  

On Friday, Eco Club were lucky enough to take part in a guided geology walk at Western Heights. Lucy from the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership, led the children on the tour. Thank you Lucy.
