River Dour Dipping

Year 4 had a lovely time dipping in the River Dour. The children looked at the different habitats around the river and even spotted a moorhen nest with eggs. They learnt how to collect a sample using the kick method. They then separated the different creatures into a pot - they found hundreds of shrimps! The children made a raft out of wooden debris and competed in a race along the river. They learnt all about abstraction and worked in a team to abstract the water from the river. Finally, they learnt about ways of saving water.

Joey says " it was fun and exciting, I loved getting in the river! I even managed to stay dry!"
