This week in class, we’ve been having a fantastic time exploring some exciting topics! In maths, we’ve been recognising and recreating patterns, which is not only fun but also helps us understand the world around us. It’s amazing how patterns are everywhere, from nature to art!
In our Drawing Club, we took a creative journey with “The 100 Decker Bus.” The children loved reading about it and then bringing their own versions to life on paper. The imagination in our classroom is truly inspiring!
We also focused on Road Safety Week, where we had important discussions about how to cross the road safely. The children learned about looking both ways and the significance of wearing bright colours when out near roads, especially in the dark. It’s crucial for everyone to stay safe, and we’re proud of our students for taking this seriously.
It’s been a busy week filled with learning and creativity, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!

Week 3

This week in class, we’ve been having a fantastic time exploring 2D shapes and their properties! The students enjoyed a shape hunt around the school, spotting squares, triangles, and circles in all sorts of unexpected places. It was a great way to get everyone moving while learning!
In Drawing Club, we took a delightful trip down memory lane with Tom and Jerry. The kids loved drawing their favourite characters, and it was wonderful to see their creativity shine through.
We also want to remind everyone that this week is Anti-Bullying Week. It’s so important to be kind to one another, and we’ve been discussing how to support our friends if they’re feeling upset. Remember, if you ever need help, don’t hesitate to talk to a teacher or a trusted adult.
Lastly, we’re getting ready to create a class poppy to celebrate Remembrance Day. It’s a meaningful way for us to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We can’t wait to see the beautiful poppy we’ll create together!

Week 2

This week in class, we’ve had a fantastic time exploring the concepts of one more and one less in maths. The children really enjoyed the hands-on activities that helped them grasp these ideas in a fun way! In Drawing Club, we read the enchanting story of ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’. The kids were thrilled to dive into the tale, and they even explored finding phonemes in our big pot of porridge – what a creative way to learn!
We also took some time to discuss Bonfire Night and the importance of staying safe around fireworks. It’s crucial for the children to understand how to enjoy the festivities responsibly. Overall, it’s been a week full of learning, laughter, and creativity!

Week 1

This week has been both thrilling and enlightening for the children. We started off by diving into the enchanting world of "Room on the Broom" by Julia Donaldson. The children absolutely loved exploring this whimsical tale, and it sparked their imagination in brilliant ways. Outdoor adventures awaited us as we gathered in our outdoor kitchen, where the pupils eagerly made potions using herbs and other natural ingredients. It was a delightful mix of creativity and science! We also took time to celebrate Diwali, where the children learned about the significance of the Hindu festival of light. They worked together to create rangoli patterns uing coloured rice. To top it all off, our potion science experiment was an exciting hands-on activity, enabling students to observe fascinating chemical reactions.

This term is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn about the children. We will have circle times to talk about families as well as our likes and dislikes. We will also be getting to explore the inside and outside classroom as well as the friends and adults in Fledgling class.

Week 7

This week, we had a wonderful time exploring the delightful story of 'Funnybones' by Janet and Allan Ahlberg! The children were thoroughly engaged as we journeyed through the misadventures of the three skeletons. To deepen their understanding, we enjoyed a variety of exciting activities. First, we had a fun drawing session where the children traced around themselves and labelled different body parts – it was a joy to see their creativity shine! Following that, they crafted imaginative skeleton pictures, showcasing their interpretation of the story’s characters. We also dove into mark-making, where the children took on the roles of the skeletons, writing their own speech bubbles and dialogues. It was a delightful mix of storytelling, art, and literacy that truly captivated their imaginations

Week 6

As the leaves begin to turn and the air gets a bit crisper, we've been having a wonderfully busy time in our class! This past week, we embarked on an exciting autumn nature scavenger hunt, where the children explored our playground, collecting leaves, conkers, and even some fascinating acorns. It was a delightful way to connect with nature and learn about the changing seasons.
We also celebrated the Harvest Festival, where the children shared stories and songs about this special time of year. Thank you for your generous contributions to our food collection—it's heartwarming to see such kindness and community spirit!
In addition, our classroom has become a hub of creativity with various autumn-themed crafts. The children especially enjoyed making adorable hedgehog paper crafts, which added a lovely touch of whimsy to our displays. We look forward to more exciting autumn activities as the season unfolds!

Week 5

We are excited to share some wonderful updates on your children's learning journey! This week, our little ones have been busy developing their fine and gross motor skills in the outdoor area. They've enjoyed climbing, balancing, and exploring, all while having a blast! In addition, the children have shown great enthusiasm for drawing and writing on whiteboards, allowing their creativity to flourish as they express their thoughts and ideas.
To enhance our numeracy skills, we’ve been matching numerals to quantities, which has helped us reinforce our understanding of numbers. To add an extra layer of challenge, we’ve incorporated colour matching into these activities, making learning even more engaging! It’s been impressive to see how well the children are collaborating and helping each other during these tasks

Week 4

At our school, we firmly believe that every day is an opportunity for discovery and joy! Our little ones are having a splendid time recognising numbers 1 to 5 through engaging games and activities that make learning feel like play. They’ve been busy with mark making, allowing their creativity to flourish as they express their ideas on paper. We also know how important it is to understand emotions, so our PSED lessons are all about exploring feelings and building resilience. And let’s not forget the delightful rain – there's something magical about splashing in puddles and enjoying the great British weather! It’s a whirlwind of fun, laughter, and learning, and we are thrilled to support our children as they grow and develop in their early years. Join us as we make beautiful memories together!

Week 3

This week we have been celebrating Art Week with a range of exciting and engaging activities. Our focus text was the fantastic story ‘Zog and the Flying Doctors’ by Julia Donaldson. This allowed us to explore the theme of Magical Creatures. We discussed the different magical creatures we met in the text. We used a variety of crafting resources and techniques to create dragon art, mermaid self-portraits and dragon models. We also roleplayed being doctors and making ‘medicines’ in the outdoor kitchen!
This week also saw us start our first formal phonics sessions. The children were fantastic and engaged really well. These are the sounds we have learnt this week. Don’t forget to check out the phonics section of our website if you need help supporting your child.
