Homework / Home Learning
At White Cliffs Primary and Nursery School, we want every child to grow into a lifelong learner—curious, confident, and excited about the world around them. We love to see children discovering new things, taking on challenges, and making connections between what they learn at school and what they do at home.
Homework looks a little different depending on your child’s age, but it’s always most effective when children know they’re supported and encouraged by their families.
We completely understand how busy family life can be, and how tricky it can sometimes be to fit homework into an already packed schedule. That’s why we really appreciate the time and effort you put into helping your child with their learning at home. Your support makes a big difference—it helps children build confidence, develop good habits, and enjoy learning even more.
Our homework is divided into three main types:
Reading and Spellings
We expect every child to read each evening. This may be a few pages of the book from school, or it could be the leaflet they picked up from the Supermarket. The enjoyment and love of reading must be fostered and encouraged at all ages.
Children will have spelling and key vocabulary lists sent home either termly or weekly depending on the age of your child. These are to be practised with the child to ensure they can read them, understand the meaning of the word and spell them correctly.
In Key Stage 2 children have access to the online learning platform Spelling Shed.

TT Rockstars and Numbots
Children in Key Stage 1 and 2 have access to Numbots. A online math fluency game.

In Key Stage 2 children will need to log onto TT Rockstars online.

Children will learn and practise their timetables facts as much as possible to ensure they are fluent in each of them and can recall them quickly.
If you need any reminders about logins or further help or support, please contact your child’s class teacher via We Duc or contact the school office.
Home Learning
At White Cliffs Primary and Nursery School, we value the important role families play in supporting children’s learning. Alongside our established online platforms, there are lots of simple and enjoyable ways to keep learning going at home. Sharing books, practising number skills in everyday situations, exploring the world around us, and talking about new ideas all help to build children’s confidence and curiosity.
Below are links to a range of websites that can be used to enhance your child’s learning at home. We also encourage families to refer back to the Year Group Knowledge Organisers for more information about what is being taught in the classroom.
