We finished Term 1 in style with a wonderful celebration assembly, recognising the many achievements of our pupils over the term. A huge well done to all of our children who received Superstar Certificates for their hard work, positive attitude and dedication to learning. It was fantastic to see so many pupils recognised for consistently demonstrating our school values. We also celebrated our Class Attendance Award winners for October - Fledgling Class. Excellent attendance plays such an important role in helping children make progress and enjoy all aspects of school life, and we were delighted to recognise the classes who have shown outstanding commitment to being in school every day. Our Handwriting Awards were presented to pupils who have worked hard to improve their presentation and take pride in their written work. The progress made by these children has been fantastic. We were also delighted to celebrate those children who earned 20 or more Superstar points during Term 1. As a reward for their outstanding effort, positive attitude and commitment to learning, they were invited to a special Superstar Tea Party. A special congratulations goes to those pupils who received a Headteacher's Certificate. These awards recognise exceptional effort, achievement and contributions to school life, and we are incredibly proud of every child who earned one. Finally, the excitement built as we announced the winners of this term's House Cup - The Ravens!  Throughout the term, children have earned house points through their hard work, kindness and perseverance. Congratulations to our winning house for their brilliant team effort! Well done to all of our pupils for a successful and rewarding Term 1. We hope everyone has a happy and restful half-term break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term.

Year 6 enjoyed an unforgettable Viking Day at Kent Life, where they stepped back in time to experience life as true Norse settlers. Despite a later-than-expected start and plenty of rain, the children rampaged their way through the day with enthusiasm, taking part in a range of hands-on activities and learning about Viking life, culture and traditions. Their resilience and excellent behaviour shone through, and they fully embraced every challenge thrown their way. It was a fantastic day of learning, adventure and Viking fun!

Some of our children had a fantastic time and were incredibly lucky to see two of the top three tennis players in the world this year. It was an unforgettable opportunity that created lots of excitement and memories to share back at school. Everyone had a great day and thoroughly enjoyed travelling on the tube and train too, adding to the adventure!

Year 2 enjoyed an exciting lesson about the Great Fire of London. They discovered what fire looks like, experienced its smoky smell, and felt the heat it gives off from a safe distance. This hands-on experience helped the children imagine what life was like in London in 1666 and brought their history learning to life! They even got to enjoy some toasted marshmallows!

We are thrilled to have achieved our Music Mark accreditation, recognising our ongoing commitment to excellence in music education. This achievement celebrates the dedication of our staff and children in fostering creativity, musical skills, and a love of music. We are proud of this success and look forward to continuing our musical journey together!

This week, Year 6 began their exciting new Science topic: Electricity. To start our learning journey, we revisited and recapped our knowledge from Year 4. The children worked hard to remember key vocabulary and concepts, discussing the different uses of electricity in our everyday lives and recalling what they already knew about simple circuits. After refreshing our prior learning, we explored the components needed to make a complete electrical circuit. We examined items such as cells, wires, bulbs and switches, discussing the role each part plays in allowing electricity to flow. Through practical investigation and observation, the children identified how all of the components must be connected correctly to create a complete circuit and make electrical devices work. It was fantastic to see the curiosity and enthusiasm shown by the children as they developed their scientific understanding. We are looking forward to building on this knowledge in the coming weeks as we investigate conductors, insulators and more complex circuits. A brilliant start to our new topic!

In science this week, Highland Cow's spent time learning about the different types of teeth humans have. They learned the names of the 4 types of teeth; incisors, canines, premolars and molars, and explored the part each type plays when we begin to eat our food. They found it interesting that each tooth was a different shape and had special characteristics linked to its function. The children then used playdough and created the different types of teeth and made a perfect bottom jaw.

This week, David from KCC visited our Year 5 and 6 children to run some road safety workshops. The sessions were really engaging and helped pupils learn how to stay safe when they’re out and about, whether walking, cycling or travelling in a car. A big thank you to David for coming in and helping our pupils think more carefully about staying safe on the roads!

Thank you to everyone who entered our photography competition for Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday! We loved looking at all your amazing photos. You did a great job showing how wonderful nature is and helping us celebrate someone who cares so much about our planet.
