This term, Pebbles are finding out all about the seaside. This week we thought about things we might take to the beach with us including sun cream, a sun hat, a towel and toys. We then wrote lists to help us remember everything. We have also had fun playing with the toy sea animals.

Term 6 is Sports Month at White Cliffs Primary and Nursery School - Every Monday in June starting on the 2nd June, children will be taking part in sporting activities. Children are to wear their PE kit into school every Monday in June as well as on their timetabled PE day.   Key Dates Monday 30th June - Sports Day (PE Kit) 9.30am - Key Stage 1 1.30pm- Key Stage 2 Wednesday 2nd July- Early Years Sports Day (Reception- PE Kit)

At the end of each term, children who display the school values of Unique, Confident and Valued are nominated by staff across the school, to receive a Headteacher Award. This term 10 children were nominated to receive the award. Well done, Jace, Tommy, Railon, Ivy, Leala, Jonh, Letica, Albie, Sophie and Lana.

This term, Year 5 have been taking part in an Engineering Project where they have worked in small groups to develop and create working motorised cars. Armed with wires, wheels, motors, and a whole lot of enthusiasm, the children dived into this hands-on STEM project with incredible focus and excitement.

This term, Fledgling class have been lucky enough to be working with Kent Music on a project to inspire our youngest children to become musicians. Kelly, from Kent music has brought in different instruments each week for the children to explore. Each session has been filled with laughter and music as the pupils learn to follow along to a beat, fostering both their creativity and musicality.

On Thursday 8th May, White Cliffs Primary and Nursery School celebrated VE Day. The children looked wonderful dressed in red, white and blue. The children joined in with a 2-minute silence during our special VE Day assembly led by Mr Danton.  They enjoyed a special lunch of fish and chips with red, white and blue cupcakes. All the children across the school learnt about the importance of VE Day and remembering those who fought for our freedom and for peace in Europe.

Specialist Teachers and Learning Service are offering Parent Clinic times. This is your opportunity to book a 30-minute slot to discuss concerns regarding your child’s SEN needs.   The C&I clinic is for Communication and Interaction difficulties and the SEMH one is for children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. This is a great opportunity to speak with specialists and get support and advice.  

On Thursday 1st May, Year 3 took the long journey up to the Kent Showground. The children visited the Living Land event. Living Land is an event where thousands of primary school children take to the Kent Showground for a day of fun and learning centred around food, farming and the countryside.

Chess Champions 8 Children from Year 4 went along to a Chess Mastery Day at Christ Church. We learnt how the pieces move and take other pieces in the game.  We also learnt the 3 fundamental rules,  Control the centre of the board, Develop your pieces Defend the king! We had a fantastic time and have been putting these skills into practice in Chess Club, after school on Thursdays.
